Caesar's Crown signature quilt made for Elizabeth Bickel/Bechtel from Berks Co/Montgomery Co. Pennsylvania (near Philadelphia). Dated 1851.This is a difficult pattern which is probably why I'm collecting antique versions rather than making one of my own. Starley Antique Quilt Collection.

It was made for Elizabeth Bickel or Bechtel (seems to depend on the neighborhood and how English or German it was). The blocks were "signed" written by a paid professional scrivener or writer. This is the dedication or ownership block.
