The Starley Quilt Collection focuses on early quilts and fabrics (as in early to mid 1800s) and special quilts like early 1840s and 1850s signature quilts, fabulous applique featuring birds & blooms, and other interesting textiles.
This gorgeous detail is from a Pennsylvania pieced patchwork pillowcase from the 1830s. An uncommon textile and generally only seen in Pennsylvania.
And this is a piece of chintz fabric bound with woven tape binding from the 1830s. The disocactus fabric was a popular print and it is found on my dated 1842 signature album from New Jersey.
