You may have noticed that I really like preprinted patchwork, aka "cheater cloth." This is fabric that is printed/designed to look as if it has been pieced. It has been around for a long time, since at least the 1830s. Here are a few from the Starley Collection.
One of my all-time favorites is this cat and dog print circa 1880.
Another from that same time period, 1876
And the star with hexagons is also a cheater print from the 1880s.
And this Tumbling Block Star is from the 1830s.
